They say you are a product of your environment and maybe everything you learn stems from your family and growing up. That is most certainly the case for me.

I come from a family that lives life. Consequently, I’m the kind of guy who wants to live life to the full; to squeeze every ounce of juice from it and savor every drop. I find fun in the mundane and the insane and am usually laughing—oftentimes at myself—the whole way.

Comedy has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I grew up in the South around an incredible family of five. One of the secrets to our success was not taking ourselves too seriously. There was a lot of laughing with each other…and at each other.

My first performance was telling jokes in my 5th grade talent show. They weren’t my jokes, of course, they were from a few joke books at the school library but the rush of being in front of people and reward of their laughter was a drug I found tasty and addictive.

Not only did I learn comedy from my family but we traveled quite a bit (i.e. cram into a mini-van and drive countless hours) and I grew to love the adventure. I hungered for the open road and new places.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Journalism and Public Relations degree I worked for three years for a non-profit in Charlotte, NC. I worked with high school kids in a mentoring-style program that saw me writing skits and performing weekly. We also took trips to camps all across the country. Traveling and laughing—two of my favorite things.

It was also around this time in Charlotte I reconnected with my love of dancing, food and cars. Each interest having been dormant for a few years exploded on the scene when I moved to a larger city with more to offer.

Three years after moving to Charlotte and with the encouragement of my family and friends I packed my car to the gills and moved to LA to seek the ability to do what I love and get paid for it. Even this trip that could have simply been a long drive was turned into a month-long adventure with me shooting video everyday and posting on my blog for friends to enjoy. Taking the average and making it awesome: one more life mantra.

Now I live in LA pursing acting and hosting. I love all this city has to offer. It has grown me in substantial ways and I am grateful for that. I am meeting people, writing stories and most importantly listening to everything around me.

I am blessed in a number of ways but one is that I know without a shadow of a doubt this is what I was created to do and I will be doing it—whatever ‘it’ looks like.

Pretty excited about what is to come. Stay tuned…
