Julie Garcia currently lives in Los Angeles, California while pursuing her dream of becoming a tv personality. Recently, Julie hosted a series pilot for MTV called "Bedroom Video Star," a show where singers and wannabe singers face off from their bedrooms via web-cam.
For the past 2.5 years, she worked full-time for a website aimed at college students based in Columbus, Ohio called Palestra.net now UWIRE.com as an on-camera music journalist. There, she traveled to festivals like South By Southwest, Sundance, Vans Warped Tour, Rothbury and more to interview musicians and artists including Jason Mraz, Plain White T's, and Paramore. She hosted a syndicated music show on Fox called Music@ThePalestra. She produced, shot, and edited her own daily music news and gig guide segments. She participated in on-cam promotional pitches to various networks like ESPN. She hosted online segments on CNN.com, FoxNews.com, and Blender.com.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie always had a passion for performing, creating, and the arts. She's a songwriter and received vocal training from Dean Kaelin, most known for coaching David Archuleta. "Ruby Kicks," her debut album is out now. Her dad produced the electronic/acoustic/indie record.
Julie attended Utah State University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an Arts Cognate in Music and Theater in 2006. There, she learned how to "one-man-band" as a reporter. She gained a knowledge in all aspects of production and anchored for the on-campus news station, A-TV. Julie also interned at the local news station, KTVX-ABC4 in Salt Lake City and shadowed reporters while creating her own hard news demo reel. She became well-acquainted with the functions of a newsroom. Simultaneously, she was a disc jockey at Utah's VFX, a top 40 station. USU theater and community theater couldn't keep Julie away either, as she performed in West Side Story, Wizard of Oz, and Pirates of Penzance.
Julie loves speaking her mind and charming peeps with her deviant personality. Her obsessions include music (obviously), pop culture, fashion, and all things D.I.Y. If there's one thing she brings to the table, it's charisma... and being driven (make that two things she brings to the table).
